I have been getting a lot of questions about what inspired the name of my business, Harris & Jane Consulting.
The answer takes me back to my grandparents, Harris and Jane, who were both school principals. In South Africa, principals of their time were far more than educators. They were pillars of their communities – leaders who raised families, nurtured potential, created opportunities, and navigated complex realities with courage and wisdom.
Their influence reached beyond the walls of classrooms. They were community builders in the truest sense, pouring into their children and grandchildren, and leaving a legacy of resilience, service, and leadership. Naming the company after them is my way of carrying forward that legacy.

For me, leadership has never been about position or power. It has always been about influence, responsibility, and care – the ripple effects of how one chooses to show up. That’s what I witnessed in Harris and Jane, and it continues to shape how I lead and why I do this work.
This is why leadership development has become the heartbeat of Harris & Jane Consulting. I am passionate about creating spaces where leaders can pause, reflect, and grow – not through cookie-cutter programmes, but through experiences crafted for their unique context, culture, and aspirations.
Because when leaders thrive, organisations transform. And when organisations transform, they create lasting impact in the lives of people, families, and communities.

So, what’s in a name? For me, it is memory, meaning, and mission. It is a reminder that my work is part of a bigger story – one that began long before me, and one I hope will ripple long after.
